A large mob of unemployed youth ransacked the district of Gafsa governmental headquarters, pelting the building with stones before destroying its interior offices and burning some of its archives. The demonstrators accused the government of dragging its feet in its response to employment demands and complained against the lead district official. Since January 2012, the government has allocated 350,000 million Tunisian Dinars toward development of the region and alleviating unemployment. |
