Suspected Dhulbahante gunmen opened fire at a herd of camels belonging to Habarjeclo/Ahmed Farah sub-clan in the vicinity of Qocondhaale near Horufadhi Village (39km N of Buuhoodle) on 04/01. The camels were fetching water at the time of the incident. The gunmen destroyed jerry-cans and reportedly sexually assaulted a woman who was herding the camels before escaping from the area. The motive of the incident remains unknown. The incident comes one day after elders from Dhulbahante/Cigaal Naaleeye sub-clan and Habarjeclo/Ahmed Farah sub-clan reached peace agreement in Meygaagle Village. |
