Al Shabaab fighters took control of Weel Cade Village (Approx. 135km NW of Badhaadhe) in the morning of 07/02. Following the takeover the fighters reportedly ordered local residents to vacate some part of the village saying that its strategic point for the Mujahidin. Reports indicate that pro-Jubaland local clan militias manning a checkpoint at the village escaped before the al Shabaab arrival. Further reports in the morning of 08/02 indicate that the local population deserted the village. |
