Tension reportedly ran high between the Puntland forces and Dhulbahante militiamen loyal to Khatumo administration in the vicinity of Buuro Wadal Village (90km E of Laas Caanood) on 27/02 following a dispute over territory controls. This followed after the pro-Khatumo militiamen took over the control of the village without any confrontation from Puntland and established checkpoint. The tension reportedly triggered a large amount of force mobilization from both sides for possible armed clash, causing panic among the local residents. |
