Militiamen believed to be from Issa Muse clan reportedly ambushed a vehicle carrying the deputy governor for Saahil region (Berbera) and the police divisional commander for the same region near Biyooley (22km NE of Sheikh) on 01/03. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The officials were reportedly heading to Tuulo Dhibiijo village (19km NE of Sheikh) on mission to solve conflict between farmers, owners of vehicles and vegetable dealers following after they had disputed over transportation issues. The divisional commander was killed in the incident while a body guard was slightly injured. |
