Local youths staged demonstration in Carmo (100km S of Bossaso) in the morning of 12/03 in protest against increased transport fares in the town. The demonstration turned in to violent after the protesting youths started throwing stones at vehicles using the main road (Qardho Bossaso road) hence disrupting traffic movement. Police arrived at scene, dispersed the protestors and arrested about 20 youths and later taken them to Carmo Police Station. No reports of casualties during the demonstration. |
