Reports indicate that an armed clash between Puntland security forces and alleged al Shabaab fighters occurred near Yakayake Village (30km S of Qardho) on 20/03. Reports indicate the fighting started after local community informed the security forces who attacked the al Shabaab fighters. The al Shabaab fighters were reportedly part of those who fought in Suuj area and were escaping presumably towards Galgala. The clash lasted for an hour. One soldier and seven al Shabaab fighters were reportedly killed. Other al Shabaab fled from the scene. |
