Heavily armed al Shabaab fighters launched an attack against SNA base in Lantabuur (12km SW of Afgooye) in the morning of 21/03. A fierce fighting went on more than an hour after which the attackers took over the base. Al Shabaab claimed killing dozens of SNA soldiers in the attack, but these claims could not be independently verified. Neutral sources confirmed that al Shabaab seized three battle wagons, three other vehicles including a water bowser and a lorry. Al Shabaab left the base before the sunrise and went towards Aw-Dheegle town. |
