Algerian forces begin combing operations in border areas deploying over 14,000 military personnel. The military command also decided to move an additional 20,000 military personnel from bases in the north to the south. An informed security source said that the military reinforcements which had been moved would be placed at hundreds of military bases and monitoring points on the border with Niger, Mali and Libya as well as used to control the main points of the secret desert paths and tracks used by smugglers and combatants. |
