AMISOM/KDF and Jubaland security forces jointly launched an offensive operation against a fortified al Shabaab checkpoint in Abdale Birole Village (41km SW of Kismaayo) in the morning of 26/04. The allied forces overran & destroyed it and took control of the village after a brief armed clash. Following the takeover, the Jubaland forces torched an al Shabaab shelter next to the checkpoint. Later the Jubaland forces met with clan elders and discussed the security situation in the area. No casualties were reported from either side. |
