SNGF, with the support of AMISOM, took over Janale town (13 KM NW of Marka) in the morning of 26/04 without any fight. Al Shabaab fighters withdrew before their arrival. Later, forces conducted house to house searches and one IED exploded, injuring four SNGF. Around 17:00 in the late afternoon, joint forces withdrew again and returned to their base in Shalaambood (7 KM SW of Marka). Al Shabaab fighters immediately returned to the town. The motive of this in and out operation into Janaale is unknown. No other casualties were reported. |
