Unidentified attackers armed with machine guns and hand grenades, believed to be pro-Khatumo, reportedly hurled a hand grenade at the main gate of the governors residence in Laas Caanood in the night of 10/05. The governor bodyguards and the attackers reportedly exchanged gunfire. Both sides used both light and heavy weapons during the armed clash, which lasted for an hour, after which the attackers retreated. No casualties were reported in that clash. Police and military conducted a joint security operation and searched for the attackers in different neighbourhoods, and in the outskirts of Laas Caanood. |
