A group of youths and few elders hailing from the Habar-Jeclo sub-clan staged a demonstration in front of the Sanaag Regional Electoral Commission office in Ceerigaabo on 16/05. The group accused the commission of not recruiting their youths in the current voter registration process. The commotion started after the commission officials removed from the recruitment exercise a group of young people hailing from the aforementioned clan, who had forged certificates. Police arrived at the scene and dispersed the protesting group. Two elders and four young people were arrested. The two elders were later released on bail. |
