Ugandan traders demonstrated and denied access to Uganda to their Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) counterparts over three days by setting up barricades and lighting fire on the road at the border of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council in Kasese. The standoff ended when police intervened on the third day. Tensions had mounted the week before as DRC traders prevented their Ugandan counterparts to enter over handling of dead Ugandan bodies on the DRC side. The border was closed for three days following the events. |
