Two SNG police officers were involved in a shootout following an escalated dispute in Galbeed Police Station (Dharkenleey District) in the morning of 03/04. As a result of the shooting, one of them was killed while the other was injured. Other police officers in the area arrested the injured officer and investigated the incident.

The two sides exchanged fire for about 30 minutes after which the clan militias withdrew. The fighting reportedly broke out after Galmudug forces reached the area to convince the militias to leave the area (in an effort to clear the roads south of Galkacyo of militia checkpoints). Two combatants were reportedly killed in the clash and four others were injured while eight clan militias were arrested by the Galmudug forces.

According to information released by state run media, the Special forces killed 12 IS fighters including a foreign fighter (a photo of his corpse appeared in the media) and captured other fighters alive. This claim could not be independently verified. Currently the town is controlled by al Shabaab. Contradictory reports indicate that the operation was conducted in Jamaame district (Lower Juba) and not in Janaale.

It is confirmed that five rounds (probably B10) landed inside MIA and at least one round inside the UN compound, Waaberi District. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility through their Radio Andalus (a pro-AS local FM) and stated that the purpose of the attack was to scare the newly arrived British soldiers. It is not clear if the soldiers were in fact a target. No casualties were reported.
